I discovered Yoga Nidra in 2009 on a trip to Bali, and it helped me understand how fundamental restful sleep is for physical and mental balance. I experimented with different Yoga Nidra schools, and finally decided to train in 2014 in Paris with Philippe Beer Gabel. Philippe is a musician and yoga nidra and yin yoga teacher, and his classes are a delight. I tried to bring him to Tidore, but he doesn’t speak Spanish. If you are familiar with French, you can access his practices online; I highly recommend them.
Recently, through Lorena, I met Laia, and I thought it was a great opportunity to bring Yoga Nidra to you with someone so knowledgeable about Indian culture and history. Laia is an encyclopedia.
Why Yoga Nidra?
It is estimated that approximately 30% of the world’s population experiences sleep-related problems at some point in their lives. However, around 10-15% of people suffer from chronic insomnia, which is defined as difficulty falling or staying asleep for at least three nights a week for three months or more.
These problems can vary in severity and may be related to various factors, such as stress, anxiety, medical conditions, or unhealthy sleep habits. The prevalence of insomnia and other sleep disorders has increased in recent decades, highlighting the importance of addressing these problems to improve overall health and well-being.
Practicing Yoga Nidra offers a number of benefits, both physical and mental. Here are some reasons to practice it:
1. Stress reduction
2. Improved sleep
3. Deep relaxation
4. Increased awareness
5. Improved concentration
6. Emotional balance…
In short, Yoga Nidra is a powerful tool for integral well-being, helping people connect with their inner selves and find a state of peace and balance.
